You already know why it is important to have a video online to enhance your search engine optimisation. However, you might have questions regarding how to make the video SEO work best for you. In this article we are looking at keywords and video creation. As you know, keywords are how Google and other search engines track your site or video. The right keywords will help you get to the top of the page rank.
To begin you have to have a title for your video. This title cannot be generic. For example if you sell office supplies you have to consider how to make the person learn your company name, what you sell, and what the video is about in the title. If your company is called IT Office Supplies you already have two major keywords in your title. Now you just need to decide the title you give it for the video. For organic results something like IT Office Supplies video will work. For Google Video sites you could have IT Office Supplies.
Of course these are more generic. Your best option is to make the title something interesting to the consumer who may come across your video. For instance: Your IT Office Supplies video, or IT Sells Office Supplies, Opportunity for IT Office Supplies. Using the 65 characters you have to create a title is extremely important for video just like the rest of your site titles. The title needs to explain what you sell as well as what your company name is, but it also needs to be interesting to the consumer. Add more to the title than just “video” on the end for organic search results.
Think outside the box for what a person might be searching for regarding what you sell. Let’s take a look at office supplies again. Say you sell staplers, so you decide to make a video regarding the staplers you have for sale. You want it to be fun, entertaining, and have a great title. So you would use the word stapler in the title along with your company name and the words office supplies. This narrows the list of what a person might search for, but also keeps it open for a wider keyword search.
More than anything you need to be descriptive when using keywords. They need to fit your target audience especially for titles and the anchor text.
